Why did you get into exercise?
After completing my undergraduate degree, (during Covid 19 period) I realised I had gained alot of weight. I didn't like my body at all. That's how I decided to join a gym in 2021.

What is your favorite thing(s) about exercise/fitness or training?
Training keeps you fit and healthy. I rarely get sick. Whenever I feel lonely or moody, I hit the gym. To me exercise is the best therapy.

What is an impressive accomplishment or skill set you have achieved in exercise?
I have been able to master the art of training continuously for long.
Another achievement is that I'm able to appreciate everyone's capabilities. The only thing you can do is help each other improve instead of looking down on others. Health and fitness is not an easy journey. We must endure the journey as a group.

Simon Mucheru is a 29 year old gym owner, personal and group trainer. He runs a gym in Njoro, a small town 35 minutes from Nakuru town. He has been a fitness enthusiast through his youth and opening a gym seemed like the natural path for him. He was interested in body building and was competing locally, with aspirations of competing at national levels. He studied water technology in college and worked alongside running the gym.

He is recovering from a hip fracture that occurred on one of his work errands. He had been sent to read a water meter in a farm in a remote area in Njoro and a bull charged at him from behind and hit him. He was treated and recovered from the incident slowly but confined to bed, under the care of his family. He became depressed and very angry at life. He gave up and pushed everyone away. His gym was kept open and run by a close relative who was not a good manager and the gym suffered. He started to visit the gym in his crutches and began to lift weights. This brought him joy and he kept at it in spite of doctors and family members advising against it.

He slowly started to walk and got back in shape. He took over the gym management and fully recovered. The accident happened 2 years ago and his finances took a major hit.

We met when we went to Njoro town and were asking random people to do the Global Fast Fit challenge. He loved the concept and has been a part of the GFF journey in Kenya ever since. He has rallied his gym members to participate in all Global Fast Fit events held in Kenya.

This is Charles and I’m from foshan, China. (The birthplace of Kung Fu), I’m passionate about fitness. I got into exercise because I love competition and I can build up a strong mindset out of it.

My favorite thing about exercise is get to know new friends who shares the same interests, stress relief and the feeling of getting better each day.

I have over 10years of experiences on exercising. I got into exercising in a very young age, I first studied kung fu when I was 5, then by the age of 10, I grew up playing tennis, Chinese traditional lion dancing, then I picked up powerlifting when I was studying aboard in the USA, and practice CrossFit and obstacle running in my 20s when I’m back in China.

I studied exercise science in college and I’m also a ACE certified personal trainer and a CrossFit Level 1 trainer.

I earned 2nd place in my age group in Asia in the 2019 Spartan race Asia championship, that earns me a spot qualifying for the Spartan race world championship that year but I didn’t go due to Covid, and I also made it in to the CrossFit sanctional competition in 2019.

I’m currently working as a fitness trainer in Dongguan, China. I organized functional fitness competition every year since 2021 and built up a solid base of fitness enthusiasts in my city.

My Global Fast Fit time was 3:35 and I’m looking for a sub 3:00 score in my next attempt. Using the Global Fast Fit routine as a benchmark helps me to train with a purpose, and I’m able to perform it anywhere in anytime. I highly recommend people to get involved in any age, everyone can do it, and the GFF routine is beneficial for everyone.
