From Mini Marathon to Ultra Marathon

From Mini Marathon to Ultra Marathon

 Sutinee Rasp , Thailand  Jul 31, 2024

I started to run a mini marathons (10.5 kilometers or 6.5 miles) in 2004. Then few years later I extend my distance to half marathons (21 kilometers or 13 miles). Of course I didn't stop just run a half marathons. I think I did my half marathons only one or two years then I move up to 42 kilometers or 26 miles. These distances are only on the road because 10 years ago or 15 years ago, it was not such a trail run.

The Trail Running was started in 2013. And I swap from Road running to Trail running in 2016 eversince. πŸƒ‍β™€οΈπŸƒ‍♀️

My first trail run ever was in Cambodia "Angkor Trail 2016"  And I started with 32 kilometers. Surprise! I was the 2nd πŸ₯ˆoverall female πŸƒ‍β™€οΈπŸƒ‍♀️.

Three months later, I did a trail run again in Thailand this time I ran 50 kilometers. Guess what? I was the 3rd πŸ₯‰ Overall female πŸƒ‍β™€οΈπŸƒ‍β™€οΈπŸƒ‍♀️.

From 2016 until now (2024) I finished more than 50 races, 45 races are ranked by iTRA (International Trail Running Association) and I have never DNF (Did Not Finish) yet 🀣🀣. All of these races I always made a podium 1-5 overall female. My longest distance was 100 kilometers or 62.5 miles! It took me 16:49:16 hours to finished.

Now I love trail running I don't like road running anymore. Sometimes I ran only mini marathon or half marathon (for speed training or tempo training). I have a feeling running on the straight road 42 km is too long and too tired but I don't mind to run on the road distance of 42 or 45 or 50 km if that road has a hills or mountains ⛰️⛰️.

l plan to run 100 km "Mozart Trail 100 " next year (June 7th, 2025)  in Salzburg, Austria πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ή. This race will be a gift for my birthday as a 50 years anniversary! Let's see if everything go as I planted πŸ™πŸƒ‍β™€οΈπŸƒ‍β™€οΈπŸ™.

From a farmer to an athlete Runner

From a farmer to an athlete Runner

 Sutinee Rasp , Thailand  Jul 25, 2024   1

I was born in upcountry as a farmer. In our farm we are planting jasmine rice. The best rice in the world comes from Surin province that's where I grew up.

I moved to Bangkok when I was 19 years old with my little daughter three months old!

At the first for five years, I was working as a housekeeping, a waitress in a small restaurant and factory worker. Meanwhile, I have to take care of my daughter as well. It was a tough years for me.

While I was working in the factory, it was six days work Monday to Saturday. I have Sunday off and I  took a chance to go to school on Sunday to get my high school certificate.

in the year 2000 I met my husband Greg, he forced me to go to university to get a bachelor degree because in Thailand it was so difficult to find a better job if you don't have at least bachelor degree! And I did it! I went to the university for four years to get my bachelor degree in tourism industry and hotel management.

The second year of my University time I was too tense for all kind of things so I decided to do some sport and I choose "Muey Thai" get rid of my tension! It worked very well, but it was not so healthy. Then I quit Muay Thai, but I keep the morning run. This how my running start πŸƒ‍β™€οΈπŸƒ‍β™€οΈπŸƒ‍♀️!

in 2004 I was start racing for the 10km run. My first 10km race I didn't get any trophy because I don't know anything about trophy or prizes! I started to get trophies πŸ† and prizes from my third racing until now πŸ†.
